This is a story about love, existence and struggles with life. It is not a simple story but it is a truly original novella written by Mois Benarroch, which is really thought-provoking.

The main character is a gloomy man who is disappointed and tired of his life, he “only exists in books… in labyrinths of words.” The reader learns that his life changed when he was a teenager, from being an outgoing boy (Mois) to an adult man (Moisito) who couldn’t find his way in the foreign country (Israel) to which he had moved with his family from Morocco ”I haven’t found the key to this society…as an eternal immigrant. I found a room for me in this house called Earth. It’s a small room with no windows, but it has a door and a key”. More to the point, his pain was intensified even further when his wife abandoned him for an ex-lover. However, Moisito unmistakably has something to live for, his true love – Raquel. Although they exist in parallel lives, the relationship between them is deep and strong. There are a lot of coincidences which link these two people. The couple share the same passion – writing, and their names and dates of birth are closely connected with each other and with their families. They often exchange e-mails and while reading conceive of drinking coffee in imaginary cafes. This is their daily routine, something they wait for with impatience, It is something they can’t live without. Are they a match made in heaven?

I find this book interesting and compelling. For me the book’s advantage is unconventionality. It is not a common romance between two people. Its necessary to read between the lines and try to figure out what the whole story is about. There are also references to religion and literature which show how they can influence people lives. My only criticism is of the ending. As it is not as forceful as the rest of the book. After reading about such strong feelings like obsessive love, sadness and depression I was expecting something stronger to put a dot on the end.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The idea of the story and the content was really inventive but, on the other hand, I expected something more from the ending. The book’s cover is not especially attractive either doesn’t draw attention.

I would recommend this book to women who like ambitious literature or sensitive men who are not afraid or ashamed to read books about looking for love and the necessity to have a significant other.
